These sequentially numbered carton and pallet labels are used by a very large multiple location distribution company who distributes to a large multi-location retailer. The labels are pre-printed because print and apply systems are too slow and the distribution facility cannot absorb the down time and costs associated with media and ribbon change overs.
The number sequence is the Serialized Shipping Container Code which is administered by the Uniform Code Council, Inc.
The material is a relatively low cost paper stock with a permanent adhesive. A distinguishing feature of the "carton" label is the perforated "tab" which is removed and placed on the shipping documents.
