This multi-piece Donor Unit Identification- DIN label must meet strict criteria both in terms of non-reactive materials and layout. Materials must be FDA compliant and are rigidly tested by freeze/thaw, aging and migration methods to ensure purity of blood units.
Layout and piggyback construction encompass requirements for variable size and quantity of label components - each with the same unit number - to be used on bags, files, test tubes and vials. Bar codes must also meet requirements for various blood testing equipment. The label is used primarily with bags containing blood samples for testing or units for transfusion.
